How it's calculated

We use the US Navy circumference method, which estimates body fat from your height and the difference between your neck, waist and (for women) hip measurements. It is the same approach used in fitness assessments worldwide.

How to read your result

Treat the figure as a guide that is most useful for tracking change over time. The same person measured carefully each month will see a reliable trend, even if the single number is a few points off.

Common questions

Measure relaxed, against bare skin, at the same time of day. Waist at the navel, neck just below the larynx, and for women, hips at the widest point. Keep the tape level and snug, not tight.
