How Seri Works (and Why There's No App)

By The Seri Team · 5 June 2026 · 3 min read
A relaxed moment at home, the day's care admin already handled

The question we get most often isn't about AI at all. It's much more practical: "okay, but what do I actually do?"

You send a WhatsApp message. That's the whole setup.

Why we didn't build an app

Seri lives in WhatsApp because that's where you already are. No download, no account creation, no dashboard with a learning curve, no password you'll reset twice and then abandon.

We're a little stubborn about this. Care tools tend to fail at the exact moment they're needed, because they ask exhausted people to learn something new. If you can text a friend, you can use Seri, and that's the point.

An ordinary day

The easiest way to explain her is to walk through one.

Morning light, the day starts with a gentle check-in

Morning. Seri checks in. Did you sleep okay? She mentions that your mother's blood pressure tablets run out in three days and offers to sort the refill. You type "yes please" and go back to your coffee.

Midday, the admin happens without you

Midday. While you're at work, she follows up on the referral letter the clinic promised last week and confirms Thursday's physiotherapy slot. You get one short message with the outcome instead of five calls to make.

Evening, winding down with a small reflection

Evening. You mention, almost in passing, that your daughter's cough is back. Seri remembers it was around three weeks ago too, and suggests it might be worth a word with the paediatrician. She can book the visit if you want.

Night, everything written down, nothing on your mind

Night. There's nothing for you to remember. It's all written down, and you weren't the one doing the writing.

She remembers, so you don't have to

Most of what makes Seri useful comes down to memory. Medications, appointments, symptoms, the name of your father's cardiologist. You tell her once, and she carries it into every conversation after that.

You never have to start from the beginning. She was there the first time.

The same memory connects her companions. Whether you're talking to Bloom about your pregnancy or asking about your parents' check-ups, it's one Seri, with one picture of your family's care.

What about privacy?

The short version: your conversations are yours.

  • Your data is used to help you, not to be sold.
  • You can ask Seri what she remembers about you, and you can ask her to forget it.
  • Health information gets the seriousness it deserves. Private by design, auditable, never shared without your say-so.

Where she draws the line

Seri is a companion, not a clinician. She handles the admin, remembers everything, and answers the everyday questions, but she isn't a substitute for your doctor or care team. When something needs medical attention, her job is to get you to the right human, faster.

Everything else, the reminders and follow-ups and the late-night questions, she's glad to carry. Just send her a message.
