How it's calculated
Each activity has a MET value, a standard measure of its intensity. We multiply that by your weight and time to estimate the burn. Heavier bodies and longer sessions burn more.
How to read your result
Use this to compare activities and plan, not to eat back every calorie. Real burn varies with effort, fitness and terrain, and trackers and tables both tend to run optimistic.
Common questions
A metabolic equivalent. One MET is roughly your burn sitting still; an activity at 8 METs burns about eight times that rate.
