How it's calculated
We calculate your resting burn with the Mifflin-St Jeor equation, the most accurate of the common formulas, then multiply by an activity factor that reflects how much you move.
How to read your result
Eat around your TDEE to hold your weight, below it to lose, above it to gain. It is an estimate, so treat it as a starting line and adjust by what the scale and the mirror actually do over a few weeks.
Common questions
BMR is what you burn at complete rest. TDEE is your BMR plus everything you do in a day, which is the figure that matters for eating.
